Monday
Atlas has been in speech therapy now for over a year and I’m always really excited when he comes out with a new word – the latest one is “on”! which he uses to demand that we switch on the TV for him (although he also uses it for toys he wants switched on, which is how I know he’s a genius) – but this morning when he says “mama WHY?!” in response to my telling him he’s going to his babysitter’s, all I feel is guilt.
“Because mama has do to some work today – but you’ll be home with me all day tomorrow!” I assure him.
“Home,” he pouts, pathetically. I feel terrible, but of course, once we get to Robin’s and he runs in to see what’s for breakfast without so much as a backwards glance, I realise he’s probably fine.
Today I have a very boring, at-home-and-at-my-desk day, editing an episode of the podcast, answering some emails, trying desperately to get through to someone to pay a bill for Atlas’ occupational and speech therapies (they have an online portal but it doesn’t seem to be working)… and writing this week’s money diary, which I always aim to have published on Monday, but somehow things don’t always work out like that.
I also wash, dry and put up two loads of laundry, make the beds, tidy the kitchen and let the dog out to pee approximately 25 times. THE JOYS!
Our schedule with the boys has changed slightly as Finn has football on Mondays over the other side of town for the next few weeks so Kasey is bringing him to that, meaning that Brandin is now going to the gym on Mondays, so I walk to pick up Atlas and then bring him home where we have some crackers and a banana as a snack and watch some TV.
I make pasta and bolognese for dinner (which he loves but WHY must it be so MESSY) and when Brandin gets home they have some cuddle time on the couch before bath and bedtime.
Then Brandin and I watch an episode of The Acolyte before heading to bed ourselves.
