Full disclosure: when I say “back in the saddle”, what I mean is that I did a single Peloton “ride” (snort) and must tell everyone about it, despite the fact that today, four days later, I have yet to do another. AND I washed my hair this morning so the chances of my risking getting that sweaty today are slim. (They are not slim, they are zero.)
This isn’t anything to do with it being January, really, or to do with wanting to “lose the baby weight”. I know I don’t have to say that. But I also know that talking about exercising within my own personal context (i.e. having a 16-week-old baby) kind of implies that motivation because we’re so used to hearing about that very motivation!
I am not delusional enough to think that a twice-weekly cycle is going to make any difference to my body, aesthetically – but it is going to improve my cardiovascular health and my aerobic endurance and hopefully focusing on form and a little strength will help ease the constant upper back pain that has come as a result of breastfeeding or co-sleeping (or both!). So. Back in the saddle.
Financially speaking, that’s kind of irrelevant – even though I did manage to time my return to the bike with the week my $39 Peloton membership fee was taken out, so maybe it’s not all that irrelevant!
Other exciting things that happened this week include a tragic Chipotle mix-up, a Hulu upgrade – because hello, Yellowjackets! – and a drastically reduced Starbucks payout. What can I say? It’s the end of the month!
