I Feel As Though I Have Disappeared

A friend asked me, the other day, how I’m doing. In general, people have been very good at asking how I’m doing, ever since I was cut open and my baby was removed, and I shifted from being pregnant to being A Mother.

“Do you feel different? Do you still feel like the old you?” she asked. This particular friend has been in therapy for years, and so she asks probing questions, but I don’t mind because she seems genuinely interested in my answer.
