I was going to start this money diary with a long introduction talking about how summer has turned into autumn and then almost immediately into winter, as evidenced by the fact that I woke up yesterday morning to frost on the ground, but today it’s 26 degrees Celsius so that entire diatribe has to be thrown out the window.
Of course, the changing of the seasons and the dropping of the temperatures is not as relevant as it once was, given that I no longer cycle – or even walk, really – anywhere, but where it does have a big part to play is in my gardening!
Once the ground begins to freeze, it’s game over for dahlias, for example, so a lot of my spare time this week went to watching videos detailing exactly when and how and with what to dig, split and store my dahlia tubers (scroll to the bottom of this link and sign up for the free Fall Mini Course to get access to Floret Farms’ dahlia information).
So far, I’ve got them dug up – I did so on Sunday, before the frost hit – and drying out a little bit in the garage before I attempt to separate them (something about finding the eye, which apparently looks like a freckle, I do not have high hopes) and store them in one of the two storing mediums I bought for this express purpose.
Gardening: it’s more involved than it looks.
Monday
Well. Remember the stomach thing Brandin had over the weekend? Which, I’ll be honest, I did mock him slightly for (in my head) and think, men are so dramatic.
The joke’s on me because I have it now: agonising stomach cramps, a terrible hard little (big) ball in my tummy and nothing works to relieve it.
Brandin drops Atlas to Robin’s early this morning and I lie in or on bed or couch for most of the day, reading (I finally finished Meg Wolitzer’s The Female Persuasion), listening to podcasts and watching Real Housewives of New York (in case you cared, my feelings for Jenna fucking Lyons have gone from disinterest to loathing and swung all the way back around to deep, abiding love).
