Only ONE Takeout Meal?! Times are Tough | How Much Did I Spend Last Week? Feb 21-27, 2022
$33 overdraft fees should be illegal.
You can always tell when it’s the last week of the month. Dressed in a simple hemp shift, I sulkily move around the house, going from fridge to table to couch with little to no enthusiasm.
Honestly, without the joyful interludes of takeaway food in my life… there is even less to break up the days than I thought there was!
Luckily, Atlas is getting cuter and cuter. He’s at the stage now where he’s getting better at entertaining himself, bouncing away in his jumperoo thing or just lying on his play mat (or, at least, I think he’s lying on his play mat, then look over and he’s migrated from the play mat to the corner of the precariously unsteady coffee table, which happens to be where all the heavy, sharp-edged books live…), and I am getting to do what modicum of work I can draw out of my addled mind. So, there’s that.
Monday
There is still snow on the ground. Honestly, before I moved here, I thought that snow ploughs actually somehow sucked up the snow, therefore entirely clearing the streets of any and all lumps of filthy snow. How wrong was I! The roads are covered in the stuff, for weeks now.
You could be wondering what difference this makes to me, as I have very few friends in the area and am frequently too lazy to leave the house. But it’s the idea of it!
I’ve also realised that I’m dying to get out for a walk. DYING, I say. Quite aside from the icy paths (there’ll be no woman-falling-on-ice from me, thank you very much), it’s too cold to take the baby out most days. I am absolutely thirsting for a nice spring day, let me tell you.
Anyway, despite having no walks – and nowhere to go today – I have a nice break in the morning in the form of a Zoom call with our podcast agency about Not Without My Sister. Atlas stayed on his play mat for most of it, then got a bit peeved so even made a cameo appearance on the call, which was a treat for everyone I’m sure.
In the afternoon, I do some washing (WHY is there so much washing to be done, my constant refrain) and a little writing, then Brandin and the boys get home and we have dinner (pasta with – Mother, I am sorry – sauce from a jar) and watch Captain Marvel.
I am a frugal – read, almost totally broke – queen.
