Pay in 4 Saves Lives | How Much Did I Spend Last Week? Feb 7-13, 2021
This week's total should make it very clear to you that I am running out of money.
Nowhere is the monotony of my daily life more clear to me than in the writing of these money diaries, where day after day I detail my life of feeding and changing and playing with my baby – and very little else. A visit to the doctor is often a cause of excitement: a reason to get dressed up, if nothing else!
Being a stay at home parent to a small baby is, honestly, very boring. It’s not that I expected him to be regaling me with stories and witty jokes, but I think I underestimated just how much attention would have to be given to this small child, and how exhausting that would be, especially in the early weeks, when you get very little response for your efforts.
I honestly shudder to think about how difficult this would have been a mere 50 years ago, before internet and online shopping and even mobile phones! They must have done a lot of reading with their babies.
Monday
Today we have Atlas’ four-month child well check, as it’s called at our doctor’s office (and maybe every doctor’s office in America? Who knows). This is exciting because it means we have to leave the house, so I get up early to have a shower while Brandin’s still at home to watch Atlas.
I am working towards being able to shower while Atlas and I are alone in the house together, but right now he only likes to nap on or beside me, and the second I walk away from his sleeping form, his eyes shoot open and he begins to protest.
