Two for the Price of One! | How Much Did I Spend Last Week? October 24-30, 2022
Have I mentioned that I hate surprises?!
Another week, another money diary. I have entirely given up pretending to like any takeaway other than Indian food, apparently, and this week order the exact same thing for three dinners, which is boring, even for me. But listen! I like what I like! There’s no shame in that! (Is there?!)
Also: my first Fort Wayne visitor arrives and I get a lot more than I’d bargained for.
Monday
I have been feeling incredibly motivated to work since Allison, our babysitter, started – er, last week – for however long that may last, so this morning after we do our morning, breakfast, playtime, naptime routine, I sit down at my desk and get everything on my to-do list done.
This has never happened before.
Granted, my to-do list isn’t exceptionally long and I have got very good at only writing things on my to-do list that are actually possible to get done in one day (as opposed to what I used to do, which is write down every single thing I'd like to get done, resulting in a hellscape of incomplete to-do lists on every planner page) but STILL.
It’s amazing!
I feel so relaxed, in fact, that in the afternoon Atlas and I head for a walk – which is when I get a text from Brandin to let me know that he’s headed home from work as he’s not feeling well.
When he gets home he heads to bed – very unlike him – and sleeps for four hours, so I text the boys’ mum to ask if she’d mind keeping them for the night, just in case he’s got a bug that we’d all rather not spread to them. (Plus, she’s just had surgery, so I’m sure she’d rather not get a bug either.)
I order myself Taj Mahal for dinner – very sympathetic to Brandin’s plight – and, to my chagrin, when I tell him I’m ordering it he asks if I’ll order him a meal to have for his lunch tomorrow! The cheek! I do it, grudgingly. ($63.73)
Anyway, around dinner time he’s up and feeling much better, so he has some toast while I eat my chicken tikka masala and we watch some Derry Girls before heading (back, for him) to bed.
Daily total: $63.73
