Who Needs Baby Tights When You Can Have Baby Booties?! | How Much Did I Spend Last Week? Jan 24-30, 2022
I'd quite like a pair for myself, honestly…
I’d kind of been dreading writing this money diary as I knew I’d spent quite a lot, although I couldn’t for the life of me remember how. Sure, there are a few too many takeaways (aren’t there always?!) but I was pleased to see that there was a trip to the vet and a hospital bill I’d entirely forgotten about to assuage my spending-related guilt.
The spending-related guilt is new. I have joked, in the past, about wanting to reduce my spending, or learning to budget, but I’ve never truly been serious about it because, I mean, what else is money for if not to spend?!
But as the winter has truly set in this week in the Midwest, I’ve started to think a little bit about the future, a thought pattern set in motion by an imminent big fat expense in the form of repairing my American’s car. It’s not a nice feeling, to think that one bill will set you firmly in the red – and that’s before we even get to the topic of my 2021 tax bill, which is also imminent.
This may be a passing series of thoughts; it may be the signs of a maturation, at least where finances are concerned. I guess only time will tell.
Be assured, though: this week is as flaithiúlach* as any you’ve seen from me.
