In light of the recent presidential election, and the imminent inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States, I asked a selection of women to write a piece for Anchor Baby that in some way illustrated their feelings about, reaction to or relationship with the results. This is the second installment in that series, in which Ruth Yaroslaski ruminates on how Trump’s second term will affect the Affordable Care Act1.

I went to bed on November 5th feeling hopeful, like I have for the last few months since Kamala Harris became the democratic nominee.
I woke up on November 6th and felt absolutely devastated. A convicted felon, rapist, racist… we already know the rest, was elected president AGAIN.
The last couple days have been filled with anger, grief, feeling numb and wondering what’s going to happen next.
